Arguably, Loudspeaker enclosures, together with power amps and
system control are amongst the most important areas of investment
for a sound rental company.
Originally, having not been entirely convinced by "off the
shelf" speaker systems, Tourtech commissioned its own speaker
enclosure designs. These systems were used to great effect by
artists as diverse as Manic Street Preachers, The Mission, Steve
Earle, Salt n Pepa, Janis Ian and many more.
8 years ago, we had the good fortune to experience a system that
instantly reversed our "in house" speaker system philosophy.
A system that has subsequently caused an industry wide re-think
in coherent audio design because of of its astonishing performance
and diminutive size - the name - L.Acoustics.
Since the introduction of L.Acoustics
to the touring industry, virtually every other loudspeaker enclosure
manufacturer has rushed to follow the L.Acoustics concept. Unfortunately
, this headlong rush has resulted in many systems that perform
extremely poorly in comparison to the original L.Acoustics products.
For most general touring and corporate presentations, where total
system versatility is the watchword, we happily recommend the
L.Acoustics "ARCS" system. Where significantly larger
audience areas are to be covered - large arenas and outdoor shows
- then L.Acoustics "V.DOSC" and dV.DOSC would be the
system of choice.
L.Acoustics also figures highly in our monitor components with
a substantial stock of MTD115 and MTD108 enclosures. We also have
a substantial quantity of 115FM's in our inventory, this is the
ultimate wedge monitor design from L.Acoustics and the quality
and power of these enclosures has to be heard to be believed,
absolutely amazing !!
L.Acoustics systems represented such a major leap forward in system
design and fidelity, that it rapidly became clear that previously
available speaker system processors were totally inadequate in
the face of such advanced audio quality - Enter "XTA".
We are proud that all our systems benefit from processing and
equalisation courtesy of XTA devices. These have been developed
by a team of ex Klark Teknik and Midas designers to provide the
ultimate in processing, thus enabling the realisation of optimum
quality from the L.Acoustics systems. If required, PA system control
can be effected via XTA's 'Walkabout' wireless remote control
system. System tuning from a tablet PC in the audience !!!!
Any speaker system can easily be let down by the power amps driving
it. In order to ensure optimum response, all our L.Acoustics systems
are powered by L.Acoustics own LA48a series power amplifiers,
these guarantee the substantial headroom required by L.Acoustics
systems, and consequently, provide stunning dynamic performance,
all this with the added bonus of highly reliable, light weight
'switch mode' power supplies.
Our long association with L.Acoustics and previous extensive usage
of V.DOSC systems has enabled us to obtain substantial insights
into arraying and configuring this remarkable system to provide
the best performance possible. Additionally, it is no secret that
TourTech is the most 'ARCS' aware company in Europe and possibly
the World !!
It would appear that the remarkable
success of LAcoustics
ARCS and V.DOSC systems has resulted
in a plethora of loudspeaker enclosure designs from various manufacturers
promising a similar performance, with the use of buzz words like
"wavefront sculpture" "Line array Technology"
etc. Where has all this come from ? 8 years ago L.Acoustics
were the first manufacturer to produce a high power, touring system
that really worked and suddenly, all other manufacturers started
to play "catch-up", unfortunately for the competition
L.Acoustics have an 8 year head start !!!!
The most important innovation in L.Acoustics products is the waveguide
itself. This is a fully patent and copyright protected device
and without it correct coupling and coherence in upper mid range
and High Frequencies is not possible without major compromises.
Clearly as other manufacturers do not have the benefit of this
waveguide they are unable to sustain coupling and coherence beyond
mid-range without significant compromises.
L.Acoustics offer sound engineers a total solution - completely
even and predictable coverage, an astonishing ability to reduce
room reverberation and reflections, exceptionally long throw,
full band width characteristics with a greatly reduced attenuation
over distance when compared with other systems.
L.Acoustics enclosures are remarkably compact, and astonishingly small arrays are capable of tremendous performance. Their small "footprint " results in substantial reductions in truck space, furthermore, the versatility of the systems allow for more complex set designs with the added bonus of less audience seat "kills" due to less PA system encroachment on sight lines.
